‘Exploring Aviation’ Presentation Series
MEET LINDBERGH’S PILOT
In the spring of 1974, an ailing Charles Lindbergh made his final flight — as a bed-ridden passenger on a United Air Lines DC-8 from New York to Hawaii, where soon afterwards he died. Now, 50 years later, meet one of the pilots of that flight: Ken Perkins of Hampton, N.H., who will recount his encounter with the Lone Eagle, plus stories and tales from his seven decades in aviation.

‘THE FLYING ACE’ BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM
To mark Black History month, join us for ‘The Flying Ace’ (1926), a rare surviving aviation-themed feature film produced for segregated Black-only theaters in the U.S. in the 1920s. Named to the National Film Registry in 2021. Shown with live music by silent film accompanist Jeff Rapsis.

WOMEN AND THE NIGHT SKY
We mark ‘Women in Aviation History Month’ with a visit from Jenny Powers, director of science at the Springfield (Mass.) History Museum. Powers, an expert in the field of astronomy for small museums, will relate the many important contributions made by women in history to a better and more complete understanding of the skies above us.

EASTER BUNNY ARRIVES BY HELICOPTER
Kids: come for our annual visit from the Easter Bunny, who will arrive via helicopter with pre-Easter treats for all. Plus it’s a rare chance to meet and get a photograph with the normally camera-shy Easter Bunny. Popular with families & kids.

USER’S GUIDE TO THE 2024 TOTAL ECLIPSE
Join us as we review everything you need to know about the rare total solar eclipse that will be seen throughout North America (including N.H.!) on Monday, April 8, 2024.

FOR EARTH DAY: ‘TURTLES FLY, TOO’
Local pilot David Dineen volunteers his time to help relocate (by air!) misguided sea turtles that find themselves in the relatively chilly waters of New England, where they cannot survive. Learn all about ‘Turtles Fly, Too!,’ a group whose mission is to facilitate the use of general aviation to transport endangered species and to promote conservation through education and outreach.

Major Event Series
3RD ANNUAL ‘RUN THE RAIL TRAIL’ 5-MILER
Welcome spring by getting out and joining in a rambling 5-mile foot race that takes you through untrammeled rural scenery and concludes with a scenic stretch of the Londonderry Rail Trail.

A program highlighting recent trends and developments at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, home of the Aviation Museum and a key economic engine for southern New Hampshire.

The Aviation Museum of N.H. depends on the efforts of more than 80 volunteers to carry out our historic preservation and youth education programs.

‘RETURN TO GRENIER’ SPECIAL CELEBRATION
An event to honor those who served at Grenier Air Base at Manchester’s airport during World War II and the Cold War. Plus the launching of a new book about Grenier published by the Aviation Museum.

Pilots, fly in for great BBQ! Families, see aircraft up close! A great family event and terrific way to celebrate Father’s Day weekend.

AVIATION YOUTH SUMMER CAMP
An immersive six-week program for young people aged 10-13 and 14-17. Using special activities, field trips, and exciting programs, we’ll take a budding interest in aviation and turn it into a lifelong passion.

ANNUAL CLASSIC CAR SHOW
One of the region’s largest gatherings of cool rides; vintage classic and specialty vehicles fill up the museum’s grounds. Plus vintage fire trucks, too!

NORTHEAST AIRLINES FLIGHT 792: 60-year anniversary program & hike to crash site
Join us for a two-day program about a legendary crash that happened 70 years ago in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, including a hike to the crash site, where wreckage still remains.
